Comment: I PURCHASED THIS HOME SYSTEM FROM MY LOCAL STORE. IT WORKED GREAT FOR SIX MONTHS, THEN STOPPED WORKING. THE SURROUND SOUND WAS GREAT FOR SUCH A LOW PRICE.

Comment: ...even though it's an overall decent system, you get what you paid for.
-Sound quality is decent, good bass.
-Love the 5-disc changer... I use it mainly for playing CD's.
-USB is useful to play MP3's.
Bottomline - If you can spend a few more dollars for a better system, do it. If not, this system isn't bad.
UPDATE:3/3/2008 STOPPED WORKING AFTER 5 MONTHS OF USE.

Comment: This system is pretty much what I expected from reading prior reviews. It works well and does the job although it does not give "theatre sound" to a large room. Speakers work best with CDs than with the TV as the volume only goes to 50 and in a large room, that is far from booming. Overall, for the price, a great system. Love the 5 CD/DVD changer.

Perfect for smaller living rooms, the RCA RTD209 home theater in a box (HTIB) system provides everything you need to create immersive an immersive movie theater experience in your own home. And with the USB host function, you can directly encode music from CDs or the radio right onto the MP3 player without having to rip onto your PC first.
This HTIB includes a 5-disc DVD/CD changer and integrated digital AM/FM tuner with 250 watts of total power and a full set of 5.1-channel surround sound speakers (one center channel, two front left/right, two back left/right, and one subwoofer). The Neo-5 DVD/CD changer system offers an ultra-compact design and simultaneous load and play capability. The DVD player is compatible with standard DVD movie and CD audio discs as well as DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD-R/RW, and (S)VCD disc formats and MP3, WMA, and JPEG digital formats.
Connect most MP3 players, thumbdrives and digital cameras through the front USB jack and enjoy your music or photos from the home theatre system. The Dolby Digital decoder creates a home theatre experience with up to 5.1 channels of wide band frequency response. The five main discrete channels have a 20Hz to 20kHz frequency response. The component video output provides optimal video quality for viewing DVDs on compatible HDTVs.
Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.
