Customer Rating: Summary: DON'T BUY IT Comment: I have had this model for a little under 2 years. The Optical Block has gone bad. Even though Sony has settled at least one class action law suit regarding the defective piece of equipment, they have only included specific models. This one is not included, even though the internet is loaded with people with this exact model having the same "blue haze" issue. Cost just quoted to me to fix...$1200. And, I just replaced the light bulb for another $200. Sony just keeps telling me I am out of luck. I will never buy another Sony product as long as I live.
Customer Rating: Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS TV!!! IT WILL GO BAD WITHIN 2 YEARS!! Comment: This television does have some great capabilities and wonderful picture... that is... until 2 years go by and it's no longer under warranty. Then the B Block goes bad. $800-1000 to fix it and Sony will not issue a recall! SEARCH KDF-E50A10 B Block on you're favorite search engine, mine is not the only one.
RESEARCH before you buy. Please.
Customer Rating: Summary: After 2 1/2 years -- a LEMON of a TV Comment: This TV only has given me 30 months of loyal service. IN the past couple of weeks multicolored small square boxes have appeared in 4 lines across the center in standard resolutions and a multicolored line in HD resolutions.
Many problems have been reported on the Internet about this model line of TV, with a general nonchalance attitude on the issues from Sony.
I would avoid this TV until Sony offers free repairs -- which will not occur until the matter is heard in a court.
Customer Rating: Summary: Sony TV Comment: I own a Sony KDFE50A10, LCD. TV. Its 3 years old and I am getting diagonal lines on the top 1/3 of my screen. I E mailed Sony and their technitions said there are many varibles and maybe it was ran a long time, sorry but maybe its at the end of its life. It did have a good picture untill this. I don't like the support because thay just don't care. DON'T BUY IT !
Customer Rating: Summary: lots of problems after warrenty expired Comment: We have had the t.v. for 20 months when these rectangular shaped, multicolored boxes apearred across the screen. They measured around 3/4 by 1/2 inch and have rapidly changing colors in them. I have been reading alot of posts and it looks like this is a very common problem occuring after 18-20 months of ownership. The cost to fix the problem is 800.00 for parts and 500 give or take for the tech. Until Sony resolves this issue I would avoid the T.V.

Take your television viewing experience to a new level with the KDF-E50A10 Grand WEGA 3LCD Rear Projection HDTV. Its design features a thin dark black bezel, a compact body and barely visible speakers located at the bottom of the set. The KDF-E50A10 also features crisp HD picture quality, which delivers natural color reproduction and exceptional brightness levels due to 3LCD technology. Additional features include the Sony WEGA Engine system to deliver detailed picture quality from any compatible video source by minimizing the digital-to-analog conversion process and the WEGA GATE Easy Operation Guide, which allows you to easily navigate to TV functions, including favorite channels, TV channel list and external input list or settings.
