Summary: Perfect for those of us with other things to do
Comment: The truth is, there is nothing more easy than setting up this incredible system. In just a few minutes (literally) you are set up and ready to watch that brand new DVD. This Bose system is perfect for those of us who just want to listen to a CD while doing housework. And it's perfect for an 8 year old to insert the DVD and watch it in perfect surround sound without trying to figure out all the bells and whistles on a typical receiver.

Okay, I know it is "simulated" surround sound, but I honestly don't notice a difference from our old "real" surround sound system. Which, by the way, we rarely turned on because it was too much trouble to adjust all those settings just perfect. This system does all that stuff for you. You turn on the TV to watch your favorite program and there it is automatically in big beautiful sound. That's it.

Want to watch a DVD? Insert it into the DVD player and it starts automatically. Your show is in surround. Want to listen to a CD? Insert it and go do your stuff. No buttons, programs, fixing the treble and bass, adjusting those slide knobs, nothing.

But, if you feel the need to have that control, Bose lets you do that too. It's all fully adjustable via remote control. We needed to adjust the treble on a CD we made on our PC, and that was easy too.

Get this for it's incredible sound and ease of use. You'll be glad you did. And did I mention all those wires are now gone?

Summary: Bose- Overpriced, cheaply made testament to advertising.
Comment: Bose is a fascinating case study of what the power of advertising can do for a product that is cheaply made and outperformed by nearly all of its competition. Based on audio theories from the 1960's and parts of lower quality than what can be bought at Radio Shack, Bose has built an incredible empire out of poorly designed products.

Consumers should do their research before shelling out money for Bose speakers. A google search will bring you to epinions or audioreview websites where you can find review after review from buyers of Bose products.

The commonly accepted wisdom in audio circles is that Bose makes low audio quality products and sells them at very high prices. In other words those Polk, JBL, Wharfedale or Infinity mid-fi products you can find at Amazon are usually higher quality at much better price points.

Compare the sound if you ever get a chance. Make sure you DO NOT depend on volume, in other words volume is a bad indicater of quality. Listen for the high and low notes and to the clarity of the music. Tough to do in a showroom at Circuit City or Best Buy, but even there the differences will show up. Bose attempts to prevent consumers from doing this by segregating their products away from the competition.

After this you might look at online audio magazines (do a google search), Audioreview (one word) and Audiogon. You'll find whole NEW world of audio products such as PSB, Paradigm, Vandersteen, Quad, Sonus Faber, ACI and many more who's products will put you on a much higher level of audio than you'd ever imagine. Usually these speakers are SEVERAL times more electronically sophisticated than Bose at the same price! Good luck and happy hunting!

Summary: Quality sound that you would expect from Bose
Comment: It sounds good but understandably if you are looking for true surround sound it's not your answer. With this system you will get more of a high quality stereo effect. The trade off is it is easy to set-up. You will be enjoying your movies in about half an hour. This is easily accomplished because all the wires can be hidden behind the entertainment center.

Summary: its worth the money
Comment: this small package packs a huge punch. the sound is great, its easy to use and simple to put together. in my opinion, it is well worth the money.

Editorial Reviews:

This enhanced DVD home entertainment system delivers much of the conventional home theater experience - without all the wires and complexity - to add excitement to films, sports and most anything you listen to or watch. Two compact speakers, half the size of those in the original 3?2?1 system, and a hideaway Acoustimass module blend effortlessly into your room. Setup is easy, with no wires running to the back of your room. A versatile media center includes a DVD/CD player and AM/FM tuner. And eliminate your clutter of remotes. An easy-to-use, advanced remote control runs your system, TV and cable box or satellite. The 3?2?1 GS system builds upon the award-winning performance of its predecessor, the 3?2?1 system. It sets up just as easily, but raises the bar on sound performance. Bose patented Gemstone speaker arrays and TrueSpace digital processing circuitry deliver the exhilaration of movies, music and TV from a hideaway Acoustimass module and just two visible speakers in the front of your room. And the speakers are 50% smaller than the original 3?2?1 system speakers. The hideaway Acoustimass module provides the deep, low notes that bring home the power of your movies and music. You'll enjoy the combination of clear on-screen dialogue, dramatic surround effects and resounding lows that lead to a rewarding home theater experience.A single media center features an integrated DVD/CD player and AM/FM tuner and plays MP3 CDs and CD-R/RW, as well. You can connect up to three additional sources (such as TV, VCR and cable box/satellite) and operate them all with the easy-to-use advanced remote control. The 3?2?1 GS system might also inspire you to dust off the oldest videotapes in your collection and see them with a new perspective. Proprietary Videostage 5 decoding circuitry delivers a compelling surround sound experience for just about anything. From vintage films to the latest on DVD, you have just the home entertainment system you need to enjoy them all.
