Summary: Same performance at many times the price
Comment: The world's most demanding banks, corporations, and data centers use the world's best fiber optic cable to send a 10 gigabit multimode signal several kilometers. That fiber costs 60 cents per foot. Why does Monster Cable charge $60 or more for to send a single-mode 128kbps signal a few feet?

I suggest a much cheaper option like the PTC 6ft Toslink to Mini Toslink Cable, which I've been using for weeks now with zero complaints. Save your money and spend it where it will really count: on quality headphones, speakers, or music.

Summary: Toslink? Same old, same old.... NOT
Comment: I bought my home theatre system over 6 months ago, so i would like to think i'm no stranger to dvd technology. I had my system hooked up to my PC, and figured out a way to actually bypass AC-3 dolby digital into my home theatre without any signal loss, whatsoever. so i was happy with using my dvd-rom and my home theatre system, complete with a Television set. well, i got adventurous one night and went out to buy a dvd player. figured i'll be able to use my computer AND use a dvd to watch movies at the same time (hail multitasking). So, i almost always go for the best when i actually do something. people told me NOT to buy a toslink, because it was just too... "extravagant." i BOUGHT it anyway, said i had enough of the same old copper... i hooked it up, christined my dvd player with a ritualistic playing of The Matrix, and the dynamics of my sound had just ... increased somehow. Wierd as it sounds, the signal is digital, so i didn't think there would be any difference. (digital, meaning it was raw data being fed into the decoder, so no matter how i got the data TO the decoder, as long as it got there in one piece.) Figured it out? me? not really. but i can swear by the fact that the dynamics and 5.1 signal of my hometheatre has improved by AT LEAST 10 Fold. I can tell without having to concentrate where the sound is coming from. the signal is stronger, and without any deteriation. HIGHLY Recommended. Toslink RULES. (kinda catchy, Toslink. ;P )

Editorial Reviews:

While the variety of digital sources on the market continues to grow, the availability of high quality fiber optic cables has lagged far behind. Cables with Toslink connections abound; finding one that lives up to the level of performance required by a digital source however, is no easy task. In fact, most Toslink cables feature second - rate construction and cheap materials. The result? Inferior data transfer ? a landline for the enthusiast in search of the better sound digital components are capable of delivering. Interlink LightSpeed 100 Fiber Optic Cable: Precision Polishing and Rugged Design Make the Difference LightSpeed 100 offers high performance and value in a durable design.A high density molded PVC connector boot with heavy - duty strain relief provides superior protection of the delicate fiberThe fiber itself is encased in a protective, flexible Duraflex jacket that makes routing through entertainment furniture and shelving easy. A precision - polished termination and specially tuned fiber deliver incredibly accurate transfer of digital audio source signals. The resulting reduction in jitter-causing dispersion in the digital datastream means smoother, more natural sound. And because ILS100 is a purely optical means of transferring bit streams, you wont run the risk of annoying ground problems like hum and buzz.Traditionally, connections have proven to be the weak link in fiber optic design. Monster has overcome this obstacle by precision - polishing connections for a perfect termination of the fiber. The result is high signal transmission, low internal reflection and minimization of jitter and time distortion for cleaner, more natural sound. Get the Best Possible Digital Audio PerformanceWhether decoding a Dolby Digital or DTS soundtrack, enjoying the pleasure of a high performance DAC, or recording your favorite music, Interlink LightSpeed? 100 delivers clean, natural sound.
